Shilpgram

Shilpgram (Translated as 'Village of Arts') is an artificialy developed village in the vicinity of  Lake Fateh Sagar. It is situated 3 kms west of Udaipur near the Havala village, One can reach here via Rani road or via Badi road.

Shilpgram reflects real architecture of rural Mewar and was developed to promote handicrafts and ancient cultural arts. The village is spread in 70 acres of land and looks like a rajasthani real village with huts, babool trees, camels, choupal etc. The Huts and porches are made up of soil and cowdung mixture and pathways to walk are made up of wet soil too. No concrete construction or coal-tar roads are found except a few buildings built to accommodate artists.
Hangings from neem tree, camel rides, and mustard oil production from traditional way using oxen are few examples which gives look and feel of a peaceful rural village.

Every year a 10 days arts and crafts festival, called 'Shilpgram Utsav' is organised in the village where handicrafts and art workers from all over the country gather to sell their products. Its a perfect shopping destination for art lovers during festival.
Also artists from all states are invited to present cultural performances of their states every evening. You can also find many food stalls of fast food, milk cream, hot milk etc. ; and for those  who would like to enjoy the typical rajasthani meal 'Daal-Baati-Churma', There is a restaurant right at entry gate of the village.

When To Go: Although you can visit the village any time throughout the year, but if you want to attend the festival 'Shilpgram Utsav' , its organized every year in december.

How To Go: If you don't own a vehicle, you can hire an auto rickshaw from anywhere in the city.

Bagheri ka Naka

Bagheri ka Naka or Bagheri Dam is situated 40kms from udaipur in Bagheri village. This is one of the favorite picnic spots for udaipurites. The place attracts people by its natural beauty, beautiful environment and a large dam which adds a mesmerizing effect to this place.

How to reach: Travel through Fatehpura circle towards badgaon and from there, join the Mt Abu road. After a few kms. take the right side underpass from the road towards Iswal village. The dam is about 20kms from there.

I would sujjest to go prepared as you won't find any shops or food joints at this place, Last useful place you will find is a small restaurant and general store on the Mt. Abu road just 100mts. before you take the underpass. After that its completely village area,  and if you are going for picnic, dont forget extra clothes because you couldn't resist getting drenched under the dam.
If you love photography, then this cud be a good destination for you. The lush green mountains n sparkling water togather create a nice click.

When to go: September to March is best time to visit as dam usually overflows during this period. If u don't prefer crowd, avoid weekends of the above said period.
