Lake Pichola

Lake Pichola is another popular fresh water lake in the city enclosing the two most famous islands viz Jagmandir  and Hotel Lake Palace. Lake has some significant places nearby namely the Dudh talai lake, Manikya Lal Verma Garden, Rope-Way to Karni Mata Temple and the Musical Fountain.


It was built in 1962 AD and named after the nearby Picholi village.  The lake has a surface area of about 696 hectares. It is 4 kilometers long, 3 kilometers wide, and has depth varying from a minimum of 4.32 meters (14.2 ft) to a maximum of 8.5 meters (28 ft). The Sisarma stream, a tributary of the Kotda River, drains a catchment of 55 km2 from the Aravalli Mountains and contributes to the water in the lake.


The Lake is surrounded by some of the world renowned hotels such as Udai Vilas Palace, The Leela Palace and City Palace where you can find the lake view suites, or you can stay in between the lake at The Lake Palace Hotel.
When Overflowed, The water from Pichola reaches lake FatehSagar via a link-canal.


Boating Facility is available at the lake. Several Food Joints are also there at a distance of few meters from lake, serving mainly Indian and Chinese food. Other than these, tea, snacks & corn(seasonal) stall vendors can also be found beside the lake.  


The Lake is approachable by road from the by  Tongas, auto-rickshaws and taxis available from central bus stand, railway station and almost everywhere in the city.
